Therapeutic Reflexologists find feet so fascinating that they work with feet on a daily basis because feet are their main therapeutic domain; read more in today’s post.
Therapeutic Reflexology is not limited to the feet of a person and depending on the training of the Therapeutic Reflexologist, may also work on other body parts like the hands, face, ears, legs, and arms, but the feet always remain the main area of focus for Therapeutic Reflexologists. Therapeutic Reflexologists may use different approaches and treatment is customised based on the patients’ needs and the training of the therapist, but Christo Scheepers Therapeutic Reflexologist always works on the feet, unless there is a specific reason preventing working on the feet, like a foot injury, foot surgery or perhaps when feet have been amputated. In cases where the feet cannot be used, the treatment focus may shift to another area of the body. If there is no health reason for excluding the feet, Christo Scheepers always works on the feet and may add to that the work on other parts of the body. Feet are the domain of specialty for Christo Scheepers Therapeutic Reflexologist.
If you are hesitant to have your feet worked on, do not be afraid or embarrassed. Therapeutic Reflexologists are professional healthcare providers and well-trained to work with your feet while providing you maximum comfort. You will not be tickled during a Therapeutic Reflexology treatment session, so you do not have to be afraid that your sensitive feet will be treated in any way making you feel uncomfortable. If you have sweaty feet, the Therapeutic Reflexologist is well equipped to ensure your comfort during treatment, and based on past experience, conditions like hyperhidrosis may actually benefit from Therapeutic Reflexology treatment. If your feet have an odour, do not feel embarrassed, the Therapeutic Reflexologist has all the necessary products and equipment to deal with it while you will never be embarrassed.
The Therapeutic Reflexologist will work within your level of pain so will not cause you unnecessary pain during a treatment session. Some reflexes (nerve endings) may be sensitive and depending on how the Therapeutic Reflexologist works, these areas need to be addressed but Christo Scheepers Therapeutic Reflexologist does not believe in causing you any pain and therefore any sensitive areas will be dealt with professionally and treated without causing unnecessary pain. You can be ensured of professional footwork when visiting a properly qualified Therapeutic Reflexologist.
The Therapeutic Reflexologist is often asked a question like, Why do you work with feet; do you have a foot fetish? That is a question I always laugh at because if I happen to be a gynaecologist and was asked a similar question, it will put the ridiculous nature of the question in perspective. Therapeutic Reflexologists happen to work with your feet; so also, are the podiatrist, the orthopaedic surgeon, the beauty therapist doing a pedicure, the physiotherapist working with a foot injury, or a medical doctor examining your foot. There is nothing weird or fetish about working with feet, just like there is nothing weird in working with female private parts by the gynaecologist, male private parts by the urologist, the intestines by the surgeon, the ear-nose-or-throat by the ENT specialist, the eyes by the ophthalmologist and so forth. The feet are just a body part the Therapeutic Reflexologist happens to work with, just like other healthcare providers work with other body parts.
Therapeutic Reflexology is a formally regulated healthcare modality, controlled by a statutory council, namely the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHCPSA) and numerous medical aids pay for Therapeutic Reflexology services. That in itself should tell you that Therapeutic Reflexology is a professional healthcare profession and not a foot fetish of any kind.
Apart from the funny question about foot fetish, I often get asked why I chose to work with feet? I have always been fascinated by the human body, and the human foot, but I did not choose to work with feet; feet chose me! I originally worked as a trauma counsellor and the need arose to add some type of body therapy with the treatment and because the majority of my patients were female that went through sexually related trauma, it was inappropriate for me as a male therapist to do body therapy in the form of a massage where they had to get undressed and working on their feet was not a problem as no undressing was needed, but a healthy form of touch was used on their feet that proofed to be beneficial. I ended up pursuing that approach culminating in qualifying as a Therapeutic Reflexologist where I work with people’s feet on a daily basis. I thoroughly enjoy my work and working with your feet is not seen as a job but as a privilege. I never take it for granted that being entrusted with your feet (and bodies) places a big responsibility on me to provide you with the best form of therapy I can possibly provide you and since I enjoy touch therapies, Therapeutic Reflexology is more than a profession for me, it is a passion and a calling.
Therapeutic Reflexology is a non-invasive therapy and you do not even have to get undressed for the treatment; all you need to do is take off your shoes and sock and lie back while you allow the Therapeutic Reflexologist to provide you with the ultimate form of relaxation where your body gets the chance to heal itself or at least balance itself from the inside out as you experience the reduction of stress and the increase of overall wellbeing.
Feet are fascinating. The design of the human foot is amazing and seeing that it is the body part carrying all your weight throughout the day, it is definitely a part of the body that deserves some pampering on a regular basis. In Therapeutic Reflexology, there is no discrimination, and everybody is welcome to receive treatment; it always fascinates me to see the human foot of people from different genders, cultures, and ethnic groups.
I find feet fascinating and offering you a Therapeutic Reflexology session is a great honour.
