Therapeutic Reflexology is Fun

Therapeutic Reflexology is fun; it is not just for healthcare purposes. Read more in today’s post.

When talking about Therapeutic Reflexology, it is common practice to consider it from a healthcare perspective because it is a formally recognised and regulated healthcare profession in South Africa and one of the most popular complementary healthcare modalities. Therapeutic Reflexology has many health benefits, for example, pain relief, stress reduction, improved circulation, enhanced wellbeing, restoration of hormonal balance, physical homeostasis, emotional calmness, and many more.

Apart from all the healthcare aspects, Therapeutic Reflexology is FUN!!!

It may sound strange to refer to a healthcare modality as fun, but that is exactly what Therapeutic Reflexology is because it is a therapy. As a therapy, Therapeutic Reflexology does not intend to diagnose, but rather to treat. To take it a step further, as a complementary healthcare therapy, Therapeutic Reflexology is not so much about treating a specific condition instead it is intended to treat the whole person in spirit, soul, and body by enhancing overall wellness in all aspects of life. Enhancing wellness is fun because it is not about dealing with specific illness conditions, it is rather about facilitating the increase of wellness.

Facilitating? Yes, because Therapeutic Reflexology is not about the therapist telling you what to do, but instead, the therapist comes alongside you and works with you. As you are the expert on your body and life, the Therapeutic Reflexologist assists you to live your best life.

Therapeutic Reflexology is therapy and as such, maximum touch is involved in the treatment sessions. Touch is fun if it is appropriate and healthy touch. Therapeutic Reflexology uses non-invasive touch within your level of comfort and therefore you will never feel uncomfortable during a treatment session. Touch is applied on the reflexes, or nerve endings, on your feet, and sometimes other body parts like the hands, face, and ears.

If you have ticklish or sensitive feet, you may think that it is not going to be fun to be touched on your feet, but you are mistaken. Therapeutic Reflexology uses pressure-point therapy, so it is never ticklish and since the therapist works within your level of comfort, it is promising to be fun.

As some patients told me:
• I was hesitant about Therapeutic Reflexology because my feet are very ticklish, but it was not ticklish at all; it was rather enjoyable.
• When you touch my feet, I become like jelly; it is enjoyably calming.
• You may touch my feet anytime because it is the best form of touch I have ever experienced.

Therapeutic Reflexology is fun, not only because of the touch but because that is “me-time” that you enjoy. We live such busy lives that we become stressed so easily, but when taking some time for yourself just to relax and spoil yourself, it results in having “me-fun”.
Therapeutic Reflexology helps you to socialise with a professional therapist within a safe environment where you can just lie back and relax, or you may choose to have a conversation that you craved with somebody that upholds the highest standards of confidentiality. Your Therapeutic Reflexologist will never judge you and you can be totally honest and just be yourself when entrusting the therapist with your feet. It is fun to have your feet stimulated and massaged while you relax or choose to have a nice chat.

Therapeutic Reflexology is more than a healthcare therapy, it is absolutely fun, but you will only understand when you experience it for yourself.
