Pampering Reflexology

Pampering your feet is part of what the Therapeutic Reflexologist does, but it is not always something that comes to mind when thinking about this profession.  In today’s post, we’ll consider pampering reflexology.

Therapeutic Reflexology is a formally recognised healthcare profession professionally regulated by a statutory council, the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA), in a similar way as medical doctors are regulated by their statutory council, the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).  That means practicing Therapeutic Reflexology without AHPCSA registration is illegal, just like a medical doctor cannot practice without HPCSA registration.  There is no other body that can provide Therapeutic Reflexologists with the right to practice, making AHPCSA registration compulsory.

Due to the professional healthcare status of Therapeutic Reflexology, you may associate Therapeutic Reflexology with the treatment of conditions you may be experiencing, and you will be correct.  Therapeutic Reflexology has been proven to be very successful in improving quality of life and often alleviate symptoms.  It is always interesting to note that the Therapeutic Reflexologist does not treat specific conditions, but instead treat a person holistically and as a result, many people do experience symptomatic relief.

However, have you ever considered Therapeutic Reflexology just for pampering your feet and spoiling yourself?  You may answer this question with a resounding “no” because often you may associate pampering with the beauty industry and not the healthcare industry.  It may be time that you expand your thinking about the matter and consider Therapeutic Reflexology for pampering purposes as well.  Let me explain…

Let’s firstly consider the word pampering.  What is pampering?  Pampering is when focused attention is given to a person for an extended time and may involve spoiling yourself or experiencing spoiling touch. Therapeutic Reflexology does offer you focused attention on your feet (and sometimes other parts of the body) and may provide you with a wonderfully relaxing experience of maximum touch.

Therapeutic Reflexology offers you pampering like very few other modalities can as it relaxes the body from the inside out while spoiling the feet from the outside in and accompanied with that is the added benefit of preventative healthcare, if performed by a fully qualified and AHPCSA registered Therapeutic Reflexologist.

If you have never experienced pampering reflexology from a Therapeutic Reflexologist, it may be worth your while to give it a try but remember to tell your therapist that you want a pampering session.  The reason is that pampering reflexology makes use of different techniques that may include maximum touch, soft touch and just some pampering, but alongside the more therapeutic techniques making it a unique combination of relaxing pampering.

As the winding down period is approaching, you may want to consider some relaxation, stress reduction, pampering and maximum touching of your feet; consider one or a few Therapeutic Reflexology sessions to experience it for yourself.
