In today’s post, we’ll consider what you may expect during your first Therapeutic Reflexology session.
Christo Scheepers has been known for providing treatment to first-time patients; those who have never experienced treatment before. This comes with unique responsibility because it is not only an introduction to the profession of Therapeutic Reflexology, but often the first time a female patient experiences a touch therapy from a male therapist.
It is understandable if you feel hesitant, but with over two decades of experience and working with first-time patients, Christo Scheepers has an excellent track record of satisfied patients that often convert to recurring patients.
Remembering the feedback from a few first-time female patients puts it in perspective:
- “Christo is very kind and pleasant and doesn’t make a person feel uncomfortable at all; as a 16-year-old girl, that is very important to me.The reflexology sessions are stress relieving and very relaxing.”
- “That was VERY nice.I came for reflexology because I just heard good things about Christo, and now I can say it is all true. My mom always go for reflexology but now I can tell her I also went and I really enjoyed it!”
- “Christo is a very professional therapeutic reflexologist. He makes you feel at ease. Procedures were explained and questions answered in a way that anybody can understand.”
- “Christo, you are really good as a reflexologist. I feel extremely good after yesterday’s session. I did not have a headache again and have also not been bloated with the IBS colon.”
- “Christo is absolutely amazing as a therapeutic reflexologist; he may touch my feet anytime.”
If you have never received Therapeutic Reflexology before, you may be assured of a professional service because Therapeutic Reflexology is formally regulated by a statutory council, the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA), just like your medical doctor is regulated by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). That means, you will receive the highest level of professionalism and quality Therapeutic Reflexology based on recognised training and experience.
With the foundation in place, let’s look at approaching your first Therapeutic Reflexology session so you can receive the maximum benefit and optimal experience.
Before you Arrive
- Share any relevant problems, concerns or health information with the Therapeutic Reflexologist.
- Wear comfortable clothing.Keep in mind that Christo Scheepers normally uses the Vacuflex Concepts electronic reflexology device during the first session for assessment purposes and you will have to pull up your pants towards your knees to ensure the Vacuflex boots can create suction.
- Be prepared that during the session, you will probably be lying on the massage bed for about an hour so try not to arrive hungry or overly full to ensure your comfort. It is a good idea to stay hydrated, but you do not have to overdrink on water, however, when you are thirsty, please drink some water.
When you Arrive
- On arrival the necessary paperwork like the informed consent form will be finalised.Nothing will be done without your prior consent.
- All questions will be answered, so please feel free to ask anything you would like to know.
- A Therapeutic Reflexology assessment will be performed that may include discussion of your health history, the Vacuflex Concepts electronic reflexology device may be used and observation and physical touch on your feet will be performed.
- After discussion about what to expect and what will be done, the Therapeutic Reflexology treatment will be performed.
- During the treatment, you may talk to the therapist or you may close your eyes and relax; it is your choice because it is ultimately your session.
- There may be sensitive areas on the feet, but overall the session should be very relaxing and not be overly painful because the therapist will work within your level of comfort.
After you Leave
- After the session, please drink some water to help flush out all the toxins and lactic acid that usually accompanies a session, especially the first session. You do not have to overdrink, but when you feel thirsty, please drink a glass of water before drinking anything else.
- Monitor what you experience after the session with regards to the symptoms you have been experiencing, your physical body, your energy levels and your emotional wellbeing. You usually sleep very well after the session.
- Feel free to provide feedback about your session to Christo Scheepers.
- Make your follow-up appointment. The ideal is if you can follow up the first session within about a week, that usually gives you the ideal starting point to give you the best idea of how Therapeutic Reflexology may benefit you.
- Consider whether Therapeutic Reflexology will be a once-off or twice-off session for you or whether it will become a recurring treatment as part of your ongoing healthcare routine.
Therapeutic Reflexology is an amazing touch therapy that promises stress reduction while assisting your body’s nervous system to relax you from the inside out. To benefit from Therapeutic Reflexology, it all begins with making an appointment.
Make your appointment today and if this is your very first time, let your Therapeutic Reflexologist know!
