Leaving Footprints

Footprints

Therapeutic Reflexology is so much more than a mere foot massage; it is leaving a legacy with every person whose feet are being touched.  With this post I want to ask the question:  Are you leaving footprints in the sand?  Or in other words, are you leaving a legacy with your life?

We get so wrapped up in the mundane tasks of daily living that we often forget that life is about more than merely running errands and being part of the so-called rat race where you rush from one meeting to the next demand on your precious time.

Often we become so busy that we forget to relax and take time out for ourselves.

The problem with living such a rushed life is the fact that if you chronically ignore yourself and not take some well-deserved time to replenish your energy and relaxes your mind, you usually end up with burnout or even worse, with a serious illness condition like a heart attack.

Is the demand on your time really worth rushing yourself into burnout or a serious illness condition?  Only you can answer that question for yourself, but consider the following while you are contemplating your answer.

Is your life only about the few years you have to live on this planet or do you actually want to leave a legacy for your children or the generations to come after you leave this planet?  I cannot answer that question for you, but for me, it is more than merely living a few years on the earth.

I believe that every person is placed on this planet at a specific point in time with a specific purpose to fulfil and after dying, your legacy should live on and benefit the generations to come.  This can only happen if you live out your purpose while on the earth and do it so innovatively, creatively and effectively that your children and future generations will reap the benefits thereof.  How this will look for you will be different than for the next person since we are not here to copy each other, but to live authentic lives fulfilling our own destinies while benefitting others.

It will be very difficult for you to leave a legacy if you die an early death or if you spend all your time running the rat race instead of living out your purpose.  This means that you have to find out your purpose in order to be able to live it out.  Many people struggle with this idea, but it is not some foreign concept that is totally unobtainable; instead it is something that has been built into your DNA.  You are naturally drawn to certain things and you love those things and are passionate about those things for a reason; it is part of your purpose in life and part of your destiny.  You have been designed to live out a life of purpose and you already have your inborn passions in you.  Sometimes people struggle to find out what their purpose in life is, but they often fail to look at what they are naturally good at, interested in and passionate about.

We are all living our own lives and we are all making choices and then live with the consequences of those choices.  Sometimes the consequences are pleasant and other times it is not so pleasant, but they are our choices and we have to live a life that we find authentic.  There is no purpose in living somebody else’s life.  Yes, sometimes we are going to make mistakes, but that is often necessary in order to be shaped into the people that are able to leave a long-lasting legacy.

I love the beach and as we once walked on the beach, I looked at our footsteps in the sand and realised that it is a great picture of what we are supposed to leave on the earth when we finally leave the planet.  We have to leave footprints in the sand; a legacy that is based on living a life of purpose that is so significant that it reaches into future generations and touches the lives of so many people, even when we are no longer there to physically do it.

So, with that said, let’s get back to the fact that you should not get stuck in the rat race of life.

You need to take care of yourself in order for you to experience holistic wellness in all areas of your life.  You need to feel healthy spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically.  You need to find out what recharges your depleted energy and then schedule time into your hectically demanding schedule for yourself.

Therapeutic Reflexology is an ideal way to use for that exact purpose.  You do not have to be ill in order to make use of therapeutic reflexology.  You can use therapeutic reflexology as the optimum “me time” where you can take time out of your schedule and routine to focus solely on yourself, to fully relax and de-stress while replenishing your physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual energy.  Often patients tell me that the hour of therapeutic reflexology made them relax so much that they feel ready to face the challenges of life again.

You are valuable and you should spend the maximum time on this planet to optimally impact those around you and leave a legacy for generations to come.  That will only be really possible if you spend some regular time on helping you live a healthy life.

Therapeutic Reflexology is one tool I use to leave my legacy and it is always such a privilege being able to impact the lives of people when they are willing to allow me to work on their feet and bodies.

Take the decision today that you will take regular time for yourself, even if it is only one hour a week where you receive a regular therapeutic reflexology session; the results will speak for itself and you will feel ready to face the challenges of the world and to leave some footprints in the sand.
