Did you know that your feet, especially your toes, play a huge role in your body being able to balance itself? That is how amazing your feet are. In today’s post, we’ll consider balance from a different perspective; from the perspective of keeping many balls juggling in the air.
We often live our lives being overly committed to too many things that are sometimes the result of the modern rat race we are living in and sometimes it is due to people being unable to say “no” even though they do not have the time to add more commitments in their already full schedule.
My life has been very hectic during the past five years, not only due to leaving full-time employment and starting up a private practice, but also due to many other commitments like studying towards a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Managerial Leadership where I investigated the South African Healthcare Industry. Let me share a bit of my life with you by telling you what I have done during the COVID-19 National Lockdown period when we were forced to stay in our homes. For many people it was a time of frustration and boredom; for me, it was a time of not having enough time for all I had to do.
The National Lockdown commenced for me by repainting the interior of our house; that was long overdue, but as I always had something important to do, the lockdown removed all those excuses, LOL, so I painted the house and did the accompanying repairs and changes in the house. The painting was just the physical aspect of lockdown. I also continued supervising numerous B.B.A.(Honours), B.Com.(Honours), B.P.A.(Honours), M.B.A., M.Com. and M.P.A. degree students, which involved a lot of reading and marking of their documents as I guided them with regards to the research aspects. All the reading and marking of the research documents were juggled along with writing an NQF Level 7 Study Guide for the university from scratch as it is a brand new module that is being incorporated and there were no previous textbooks or guiding materials to work from; needless to say, I had to do a lot of research, reading and writing to do this. As if I did not have enough to read and write, added to that, I spent many hours researching, reading, and writing up the Ph.D. thesis. While all of this was happening, I consulted with Therapeutic Reflexology patients, as per lockdown regulations, at my brand new office where I moved into on 1 March 2020. Then my two daughters, one in primary school and one in high school, became online students as the schools decided to continue schooling via online platforms while they are locked in the homes and us as parents became overnight teachers. Add to that spending time with my wife and children in the midst of lockdown, and you’ll understand that the lockdown period was quite busy as I was trying to juggle many things at the same time. When you have so many responsibilities and deadlines to adhere to, it is not strange that the thing being neglected is your own sleep.
You may be in a very similar situation where you have many commitments and too many things you are juggling at the same time and you may feel like you are doing a balancing act for the life you lead. It is not strange that in the midst of this, you may be neglecting your own sleep and your own body and your own health and wellbeing. This is the time to be careful not to overdo it. Often the commitments are out of your control and you are unable to reduce everything you are juggling, but to keep on doing what you are doing, will mean that you should take care of your body and peace of mind; if not, being too busy often lead to many conditions like insomnia, high-stress levels, and even severe cardiac conditions.
The question arises; what are you doing to keep your juggling ability optimal?
We should all be aware of what helps us to reduce our stress levels in order for us to continue doing as much as we can without it negatively affecting our health and wellbeing.
Therapeutic Reflexology is one of the best healthcare modalities you may consider to help you keep your stress levels under control, which will assist you in being able to continue dealing with higher than usual stress levels to fulfill all your commitments. You may need to make your next Therapeutic Reflexology appointment or if you have never experienced a Therapeutic Reflexology treatment, you may want to consider taking the first step and putting your feet up for a Therapeutic Reflexologist to assist you in your balancing act.
Therapeutic Reflexology assists the body to balance itself from the inside out, so, it is not only your toes that are amazing in helping you balance; therapeutic reflexology also helps you balance.
