Choose Therapeutic Reflexology

As the world of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) expands and grows in popularity, there are so many modalities to choose from, so why choose Therapeutic Reflexology?  In today’s post, we’ll consider why you should consider the modality of Therapeutic Reflexology in the midst of so many other complementary and alternative therapies.

As CAM grows, there are numerous modalities available and even new modalities emerging and you have such a vast option of choices.  It is easy to become confused and disillusioned with what modality or modalities to make use of.  It is not strange that you may become so overwhelmed when reading about the benefits of each modality that you are considering to make use of them all and to at least try every modality once.  On the other hand, you may become so overwhelmed with all the options that you completely stay away from CAM modalities and rather decide not to use any of these modalities.

I’ll make this post more personal instead of just looking at facts and tell you a little about my background and involvement in various CAM modalities and why I have decided that Therapeutic Reflexology is not only my therapy of choice but also my specialty of choice which I chose to focus on instead of spreading myself so thin being involved in too many other modalities.

My interest in CAM began years ago due to a couple of things that happened in my life.  Firstly, there is a hereditary condition in our family called Porphyria making it very difficult for me to use allopathic medication due to getting many side-effects.  I, therefore, looked into more natural, alternative and complementary methods to deal with certain conditions.  Secondly, when my child became ill and I disagreed with conventional treatment of placing her on asthma medication (as I believed she did not have asthma, and years later it has been proven that I was correct), I was looking into complementary alternatives.  Finally, jumping ahead many years as I experienced a condition where I bloated severely in the abdomen to the point where I looked like the Oros man as was advertised on TV, when modern medicine told me that they cannot find anything wrong with me and don’t know how to resolve my condition, I had to look at alternative and complementary methods of treatment.

Needless to say, CAM proved effective for certain conditions in my life and in my family’s life to the point where I believe there is a definite place for CAM modalities within the healthcare system and have dedicated my working career to this belief.  So, let’s move away from my beliefs and let’s look a bit at my background experience with CAM.

My involvement in CAM began many years ago with training and practicing in the field of counselling, specifically trauma counselling.  From there I studied and practiced various healthcare modalities including reflexology, Swedish massage, body massage, holistic massage, hot stone therapy, Indian head massage, Acupressure, Ethnomedicine, Natural Medicine, Herbal medicine, Bodywork, and Bodytherapy while working with various healthcare devices like the Biores, Rife Medic and Quantum Scio.  I’m saying all of this to get to the point of saying that I have experience in various CAM modalities and therefore my decision to specialise in Therapeutic Reflexology has been based on choice, not a necessity.

Therapeutic Reflexology is my healthcare modality of choice and I have chosen this specific therapy from all the different CAM modalities I have practiced because I just love this therapy and have personally experienced its benefits in my own body while personally witnessed the awesome positive results it offered in the lives of my patients.  When I decided in 2015 to solely specialise in Therapeutic Reflexology, it was a choice based on personal experience and a belief in the benefits this modality had to offer.

Looking back, it was the correct decision and I just love every moment of my chosen therapeutic modality.  It is such an honour for me to be entrusted with every patient’s feet and bodies while being able to provide a therapy that is excellent at reducing stress levels.

Therapeutic Reflexology is a therapy that offers many benefits from reducing stress to increasing relaxation, from increasing circulation in the body to stimulating balance in the body that may result in pain relief and numerous other benefits.  It is a healthcare modality that offers tremendous benefits to the point where many medical schemes are acknowledging this very fact by actually offering benefits for Therapeutic Reflexology.

One of the major benefits of Therapeutic Reflexology as healthcare modality is the fact that it is a non-invasive therapy whereby you do not have to get undressed or invasively treated.  It is non-invasive, so all you have to do is to take off your shoes and socks and to relax while I do all the relaxing work on your feet (and sometimes other body parts like the ears, face, and hands if you want this additional form of reflexology added to the usual foot reflexology).

Best of all, Therapeutic Reflexology is the ideal healthcare therapy if you want to complement your existing healthcare or medical treatment as it does not negatively affect other treatments as it is a truly complementary modality.

Therapeutic Reflexology is a wonderful modality to consider, especially now that we are approaching the end of the year as it offers stress-reducing benefits so you may not burn yourself out before you take that long-awaited December vacation.

I chose Therapeutic Reflexology as my healthcare modality of choice to practice; maybe you should consider Therapeutic Reflexology as a therapy you should receive!
