The world has been affected by the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) caused by the Coronavirus and as South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, announced a 21-day national lockdown, you may have more questions than answers. In today’s post, we’ll consider this global pandemic.
It should be clearly stated that the national lockdown is a precautionary measure in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but it should not be instigating fear. It is a time of uncertainty and many may not be sure what to expect in the coming days, but you should take the necessary measures to keep yourself and others safe in a national attempt to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
In the world of business, we regularly speak about constant change and the fact that organisations should be flexible enough to adjust and change with the times. With a national lockdown looming, inevitable change is about to occur in your daily lives and with the uncertainty comes a certain amount of resistance to such change, but also some fear. People may be really scared of what is about to occur in the country, but you should not give in to fear and enter a state of panic. When you panic, you become debilitated instead of being able to focus on the task at hand, namely, to keep yourself and your family safe and in the process, you will also keep your neighbours and the rest of the country safe.
Do not fear, but instead use this time of uncertainty as an opportunity. An opportunity to take the well-deserved rest you have been longing for; a time to spend with your family and have the quality time you always longed for, but never seem to get time to put in place; a time to do all the tasks in your house that you have been procrastinating about; a time to read the book you have been promising yourself to read. Use the time wisely and do not give in to fear and panic.
Yes, there are challenges that will be faced, especially if you are self-employed and will not be earning an income during this time, but keep calm and realise that you are not the only one. There are many of us in the same situation and we’ll have to deal with the practicalities of this challenge as the days go by. One thing is certain, worrying about these problems will not solve it. We’ll have to come up with some creative solutions and your innovative juices will not be able to flow when you are in a state of panic and overcome with fear. Instead, channel your energy to effective ideas and possible solutions.
Valuable information about COVID-19 has been circulated like washing your hands regularly, not touching your face, monitoring signs and symptoms and drinking hot liquids. The entire globe is sharing valuable information like this to help you during this time. Take note of such valuable information and implement it while keeping up to date with what is happening nationally and globally with regards to the Coronavirus, but do not let it consume your entire thought life and mind. Focus on the positive in the midst of the negative while doing the basics to protect yourself.
There are no studies available on the effect of Therapeutic Reflexology on COVID-19, but therapeutic reflexology may potentially assist your body to stay balanced and a body in homeostasis is a body with increased immunity. Therapeutic Reflexology will definitely help to keep you calm during this time of uncertainty.
You may not have access to a Therapeutic Reflexologist during the national lockdown period, but what you may do while you are alone at home, is to massage your own hands and feet. Yes, it is not the same as getting professional Therapeutic Reflexology, but at least it is a way to keep yourself calm and experience some form of touch, especially when you feel alone and isolated.
If you feel lonely during the national lockdown period, please do not hesitate to contact me via telephone, Whatsapp, email or Skype; contact details available on the website (www.christoscheepers.co.za).
