It is not strange for a Therapeutic Reflexologist to be asked: “Why do you work with feet? I can never work with other people’s feet!” It is at such times that I’m always glad that I’m not being asked a question like that as a Gynaecologist or Urologist or Proctologist LOL. Putting all the joking aside, Therapeutic Reflexologists work with feet because that is our therapeutic domain, so let’s consider the fact that feet are not yucky in today’s post.
Some people see feet as “yucky” and they do not want to touch other people’s feet and sometimes they do not even want to touch their own feet; they just do not like feet at all. That is fine, that is why there are Therapeutic Reflexologists around to do the touching.
For the Therapeutic Reflexologist, feet are not yucky. Feet are body parts just like your hands, or face, or eyes, or nose, or ears. As Therapeutic Reflexologists we realise the benefit you will receive during treatment and therefore we gladly work with your feet.
Feet are amazing body parts made up of various bones, muscles, ligaments and so much more and if you think about what your feet are going through every day, you may reconsider your view about feet. Your feet carry your weight around every day, all day. Your feet do not have the luxury to say to your body: I do not want to carry you around. Your feet are carrying your weight around and not only by enduring the kilograms, but through numerous strenuous maneuvers like walking, running, jumping, and exercising.
When the Therapeutic Reflexologist looks at your feet in order to work on your reflexes (nerve endings), your feet are really fascinating to the professional therapist. The shape of your feet, the markings on your feet, the texture of your feet, the temperature of your feet, and so much more, may provide an indication of what underlying conditions you are dealing with, both physically and emotionally and it provides the Therapeutic Reflexologist with valuable insight into what type of treatment session you require that will provide you with the maximum benefit of relaxation, balancing and hopefully healing.
You do not ever have to feel uncomfortable or self-conscious when visiting a Therapeutic Reflexologist. The Therapeutic Reflexologist is a professional healthcare provider that is fascinated by your feet. The Therapeutic Reflexologist works with all types of feet, so you should never feel embarrassed about your feet; your feet provide the Therapeutic Reflexologist with valuable information about you. A Therapeutic Reflexologist is a professional that is formally regulated by a statutory healthcare council which means that your feet, and you, will at all times be treated with the highest standards of professionalism and hygiene to ensure you get the best possible treatment available.
People may be hesitant to take off their shoes and socks for a Therapeutic Session as they may be ticklish or their feet may be dry or sweaty or their feet may have an odour. Do not worry about any of this. The Therapeutic Reflexologist is prepared for any situation and what may cause you to be hesitant, are valuable signs the Therapeutic Reflexologist may take note of in order to assist you in the best possible way; the signs of your feet provide valuable feedback about your life to the Therapeutic Reflexologist and the best of all, Therapeutic Reflexology is not ticklish so you do not have to be afraid of being tickled during a session.
As a Therapeutic Reflexologist, I have the privilege of working with people and the honour to be entrusted with their feet (and bodies). Feet are not yucky, feet are amazing body parts that provide the Therapeutic Reflexologist with a wonderful therapeutic domain where therapy may be applied to.
If you think feet are yucky, maybe you should consider getting a Therapeutic Reflexology session to see for yourself that the Therapeutic Reflexologist does not see feet as yucky, and then you may also experience how wonderful it feels to have a Therapeutic Reflexologist provide you with professional therapy.
