No Discrimination in Therapeutic Reflexology

There is no discrimination in Therapeutic Reflexology; read more in today’s post.

Discrimination is the unfair treatment of people based on specific characteristics like skin colour, age, race, gender, education, and so forth.  South Africa is known for the injustice and discrimination of the Apartheid years from 1948 until 1994 where black people have been discriminated against.  From 1994 until the present time, many will say that there is now a reverse form of Apartheid in South Africa against white people as they are discriminated against based on their skin colour through legislation like Affirmative Action, Broad-Based-Black-Economic-Empowerment and Employment Equity, even though said legislation says that it is not discrimination when treating white people unjustly in that manner.

That is the present situation in South Africa where race and skin colour have been used and is perhaps still being used, to instigate discrimination, but that is not the only form of discrimination.  People may be discriminated against due to age and people are forced to retire when they reach the age of 60, however, politicians can be appointed after the age of 60, yet the rest of the population is forced to retire.

People are often discriminated against based on gender.  Certain genders earn less than others while some organisations employ people of a specific gender more readily.  So, the story continues.  We heard in the news this past couple of weeks about the educational crisis in the Western Cape where some pupils have not been placed in schools yet, but that is a discriminatory problem, even though it is not admitted.  When applying to attend a school, like a primary pupil having to apply to go to high school, the high schools do not admit the children living in the area of the school first, instead, they discriminate against the neighbouring pupils, especially if pupils from afar have higher educational marks.  That is why there is constantly a problem with placing pupils, not because there is no space for them, but because schools discriminate in the selection process.

There are so many examples of discrimination that can be mentioned but it will suffice to say that discrimination is still present in modern-day society.

Therapeutic Reflexology, on the other hand, is non-discriminatory and does not discriminate against any person based on age, background, culture, education, ethnicity, gender, history, race, religion, sexual orientation, or any other factor.  Therapeutic Reflexology is a formally regulated healthcare profession offering non-invasive therapy to any person, regardless of age, background, culture, educational levels, ethnicity, gender, history, race, religion sexual orientation, or any other factor.  Therapeutic Reflexology is accessible to everyone.

As a Therapeutic Reflexologist having practiced reflexology for the past 18 years, it has always been an honour and fascination to work with all people because you learn so much from each other.

It is normal for people to feel hesitant to interact with people that are different, but it is during such interactions that people get to learn about each other, get to understand each other, and when obstacles are removed, and people begin to know why certain people do or act in certain ways.  With understanding comes tolerance that leads to consideration for other people that may lead to a love for all people.  It all begins with interacting with each other and not being too sensitive or too afraid to address questions and matters arising.  If people do not understand why somebody is doing something in a specific way, it is a healthy approach to ask about it and for the person being asked, to answer honestly without being offended.  That is the only way how people will begin to understand each other.

Something I have always kept in mind is that if you have not walked in somebody else’s shoes, you have no idea what they have been going through, and even if you are able to do so, it is still a biased opinion as you are making sense of what somebody else is experiencing based on your own background and interpretation.  We can never truly walk in somebody else’s shoes and therefore it is extremely important to treat each person with respect and dignity with the understanding that they may be going through things that you will never truly be able to understand.

Therapeutic Reflexology is a healthcare modality that offers therapy to any person without discriminating against any person, but it is also a very effective therapy to use when you feel offended or stressed, or discriminated against because Therapeutic Reflexology has the potential to help you relax and destress while allowing a healthy form of therapeutic touch to connect you to another person.

If you have not tried Therapeutic Reflexology when you feel discriminated against, seriously consider it to make a Therapeutic Reflexology appointment and experience non-discriminatory therapy and healthy touch.
