Size does (not) matter

Does size matter?  That is a question often asked by some people, especially men, but today’s post is not about that type of size.  Today’s post is about the size of your feet.  Does the size of your feet matter when it comes to therapeutic reflexology? The picture accompanying this post is of a 28-year old female with beautiful size 11 feet.

Each person is unique and every person getting into my therapeutic reflexology practice has different feet.  Some have tiny feet, some have large feet, some have thin feet, some have broad feet.  Some people have broad heels, some have narrow heels.  Every single person has different feet and for the trained therapeutic reflexologist, the size of your feet is not a problem.

I had the privilege of doing therapeutic reflexology on various people; from babies to adults since I started doing reflexology in 2003. Each of these people had different feet. When working with adults, I had the privilege of working with adults with small size 3 feet all the way up to size 14 feet.  Based on personal experience, I can definitely answer the question that the size of your feet does not matter when it comes to therapeutic reflexology.

Therapeutic Reflexologists are trained professionals formally registered and regulated by the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA), the only statutory council that can provide permission to practice the profession in the country.  To register with the AHPCSA a formal two-year Diploma in Therapeutic Reflexology is required along with the compulsory clinical hours of practical work completed. Presently there are only three institutions in South Africa that are recognised by the AHPCSA to offer this training, namely the International Academy of Reflexology and Meridian Therapy (IARAMT), Camelot International and the Potchefstroom Academy.

When you visit a properly qualified therapeutic reflexologist that are formally regulated by the AHPCSA, you can be sure of getting the best possible reflexology treatment available.  When visiting such a trained, registered and regulated professional therapist, you can be sure that the size of your feet does not matter.  The therapeutic reflexologist knows how to work on different size feet in order to provide you with the best possible treatment in order for you to relax and allowing your body to destress and healing itself, or at least attempt to balance itself, from the inside out.

There may be some adjustments needed that the therapeutic reflexologist will make when you have bigger or smaller feet, but that is done by the therapist and the patient will not even be aware of this.  Therapeutic reflexologist is more than merely pressing on certain pressure points, it is working on reflex areas (or nerve endings) on the feet and the general rule of thumb is that it should be done based on the patient’s size thumb, not that of the therapist (see what I did there – rule of thumb, the patient’s thumb, the therapist’s thumb LOL).

Do not worry about that, that is the therapeutic reflexologist’s domain and you should just relax and enjoy the session.

Never feel uncomfortable about the size of your feet. Therapeutic reflexologists are trained professionals and your feet is our therapeutic domain.  We work with all sizes of feet, so just sit back, relax and put your feet (regardless of size) in the capable hands of your therapeutic reflexologist and rest assured that when it comes to therapeutic reflexology and the size of your feet……

Size does not matter!
