Stressing about your Children

Are your children causing you stress?  Read more in today’s post.

Having children is one of the most rewarding privileges but with that comes a huge responsibility and the accompanying stress, especially when seeing what children and teenagers are going through and living within modern-day society.  They are stress, pressure, and anxiety about matters we never had to go through as children and teenagers.  They live with constant bombarding of information and ceaseless interaction with others via social media, and lately, the devastation that comes from COVID-19, ranging from the death of loved ones and friends to social distancing to total isolation during national lockdowns.  These are unprecedented times and children, and teenagers are constantly dealing with matters like abortion, anxiety, bullying, depression, explicit sexuality, fear, instant gratification, sexual assaults or molestation, social awkwardness, social media bullying and intimidation, teenage pregnancy, and technology impacting their lives on a daily basis, both good and bad.

When seeing what children and teenagers are experiencing, it is devastating for a parent because a parent can be available for them and a parent can try to make life easier for them, but at the end of the day, the parent cannot make decisions for them and we have to look how they make wrong decisions while being there for them to pick up the pieces after they chose the most devastating option that parents knew would end up in a negative space.  That is what a parent is; we are there for our children/teenagers, but we cannot live life for them.

Therapeutic Reflexology may offer relief of the stress for the parents as well as for the children and teenagers.  Therapeutic Reflexology is a professionally regulated healthcare profession that is totally non-invasive, but instead, it is a relaxing treatment that helps people to destress while enhancing circulation and complete homeostasis (balance).

As a parent, Therapeutic Reflexology offers you the escape time you need to just relax and take an hour away from your children/teenagers and responsibilities, just to spend on you and it is an ideal “me-time” therapy.  Parents constantly run around ensuring their children/teenagers get to all their activities while continuously putting the needs of the kids first, but as a parent, the best thing you can do for your children is to take some time off for yourself.  In contemporary society, taking time off is often seen as a luxury there never seems to be time for constant vacations, however, it is possible to take an hour out of your busy schedule to spend on yourself.  That is all that is needed to receive a Therapeutic Reflexology session; you don’t even have to talk to the therapist if you do not want to, just relax and allow the therapist to work on your feet (or other body parts like the hands, face, and ears).  While you relax, the therapist works on the specific nerve endings to give you the best relaxation session that will drastically reduce your stress levels, but even more important, when you get up from this well-deserved “me-time”, you will have much more tolerance and patience with your children/teenagers, so you are ultimately doing them a favour by looking after your own wellbeing.

Teenagers are experiencing many struggles in today’s society and often they do not want to talk about it.  They may be experiencing anxiousness, anxiety, or fear but often do not know how to express their cluttering emotions into words and thus may become silent, withdrawn, and even isolated.  As parents, we should consider taking them for Therapeutic Reflexology.  It may offer them the ideal milieu where they can just lie back, relax and not talk about their feelings while experiencing a healthy form of touch that may assist with homeostasis in their body and emotions.  Regular Therapeutic Reflexology treatments may offer the ideal destressing for your overloaded teenager; allow them to just experience some free “me-time” and you may be surprised with the results.  If you are a parent like me, then you may want to try anything that may assist your teenagers to live a well-balanced lifestyle and Therapeutic Reflexology offers them such an opportunity.

Children are often not too excited about lying on a bed for an extended period of time because they are usually very active, but once they experience Therapeutic Reflexology for the first time, you may be surprised how your children may be asking you for another treatment.  Children may not have the vocabulary to express what they are feeling in words, but after a Therapeutic Reflexology session, they often feel good about themselves, relaxed, and with much less stress.

Children/teenagers that go through traumatic events, which may include a once-off trauma like a car accident or violent crime, or ongoing trauma like molestation or a divorce, find tremendous relief through Therapeutic Reflexology.  Therapeutic Reflexology does not take away the psychological therapy they need to receive, but it offers a wonderful complementary therapy to physically assist them with the emotional turmoil they are dealing with on a daily, hourly, or even a minute-by-minute basis.

Therapeutic Reflexology is a non-invasive therapy that is ideal for all parents, teenagers, and children; have you considered a Therapeutic Reflexology session for you or your children/teenagers yet?
