Are you experiencing tension in your life at the moment?  Have you ever considered having the tension dealt with through the wonderful healthcare modality of therapeutic reflexology? In today’s post, we’ll explore the use of therapeutic reflexology to deal with your tension.

What is tension?

Tension is any situation where you feel on the edge; as if you have been stretched to the breaking point and if any little bit of extra tension is put on you, you may just explode.

Tension may be physical due to strenuous exercise and you may feel physically tense afterward, but mostly it is an emotional or mental state of mind.  It is almost like you have been going through the one ordeal after the next and as soon as you are getting close to breaking point, you feel additional tension.

Results of Tension

Tension may cause you to feel tired; extreme fatigue as if you cannot feel rested.  You may go to sleep, but you wake up tired.  That is now if you are able to sleep because often tension causes you to struggle to sleep due to your mind constantly being focused on your circumstances and the situations you are dealing with.

Apart from fatigue and insomnia, you may feel like you have an excessive appetite and you just want to constantly indulge in food or you may have lost your appetite and do not want to eat at all.

Tension can put your mind on this downward spiral where you begin to think about your situation, but instead of finding any solutions, you are just seeing the one problem after the other.  Your mind is overloaded with your circumstances and the problems you are dealing with.

If your tension is long-term, it will not be strange if you feel very frustrated and that the smallest little thing causes you to feel irritated. Unfortunately, it may be your family, friends, and colleagues that are the ones having to deal with your irritation and short fuse that keep on being directed at them, although they may not be the actual problem.

Is there hope?

Yes, there is always hope.  We all deal with many different circumstances, some of which we have absolutely no control over.  Life happens to all of us.  We may not have control over our circumstances or what happens to us in life, but we definitely have the ability to choose how we react to it.

The problem is that when you are living in a tense environment of circumstances, your natural choices may not be to deal with the tension, but instead to react to what life throws at you.  It is in these times that you need to make a conscious decision to break the cycle of tension by putting certain corrective measures in place.

One such corrective measure that you may consider, is therapeutic reflexology.

What do my toes have to do with it?

Therapeutic Reflexology works on your feet and toes, so it was not directed at your toes only, but I’ll explain a bit more here.  Therapeutic reflexology also works on other body parts like your ears, face, hands, and body.

We usually begin by working on your feet, because it is a bigger area to work on and is very effective.  Best of all, it is a very relaxing healthcare modality and therefore you will be able to take some time out for yourself and to just relax and in the process, you may feel the tension be slowly removed from you.  It will not be strange for you to get up from a therapeutic reflexology session and feel totally relaxed as if the tension is no longer inside you, but feels like something separate from you; you may just feel as if the high-strung wire in your mind has been loosened.  And that by working on your toes; and the rest of your feet.

In therapeutic reflexology, your toes represent certain acupuncture and acupressure points that relate to certain bodily systems and by working on these specific points, may help to reduce tension in the different systems of the body.  Therapeutic Reflexologists usually add to this by working on the rest of the feet and sometimes on the legs, arms, hands, face, and ears as well.

Therapeutic Reflexologists work on reflexes, which is basically your nerve endings and by stimulating these areas, it may have a positive effect in the entire body that may drastically reduce the physical, emotional and mental tension you are experiencing.  It is not the stimulation of the nerve endings that produce the results, but the body is doing its own healing and balancing from the inside out and the Therapeutic Reflexologist merely stimulates the reflexes in order to assist the body to be in an optimum state to do this healing or balancing.

Conclusion

If you are experiencing high tension levels in your life, it may be beneficial for you to make an appointment to visit a Therapeutic Reflexologist in order for your toes and other parts of the feet to be stimulated so you may experience less tension.
