Thankful Feet

I am thankful for a wonderful year as we are entering the festive season; 2019 was an awesome year at the private practice of Christo Scheepers Therapeutic Reflexologist.  Today’s post is the final post of 2019 and in this post, we’ll reflect back over the past year.  Please visit again soon as new posts will continue to be uploaded from the middle of January 2020.

As I’m reflecting back over 2019, I am so thankful for the wonderful opportunity I had to work with so many diverse people during the past year.  It is always such a privilege to be entrusted with the feet and bodies of patients and this honour is never lost on me whenever I have the opportunity to provide touch therapy to a person in the form of therapeutic reflexology.

Therapeutic reflexology is such an amazing healthcare modality and working in the complementary healthcare industry has always been such a blessing to me.  I was always interested in reflexology and in the beginning of 2003 had the opportunity to study reflexology in the beauty industry and later followed the training up with training in various forms of massage and natural healthcare.  When I had to the opportunity to complete professional therapeutic reflexology training, I jumped at it and completed the professional qualification in December 2017.  Opening this private therapeutic reflexology practice was a dream come true in March 2018 and in 2019 this new private practice just allowed me the opportunity to work with so many wonderful people.  It is always so magnificent to offer a therapy that may impact the lives of people.

2019 was a year where I had the privilege to work with many feet (and bodies) from various countries, including Australia, Brazil, France, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa (various provinces including Eastern Cape, Gauteng, and Western Cape), United Kingdom, United States of America, Zambia and Zimbabwe.  I had the opportunity to work with children, teenagers, and adults with adult feet sizes ranging from a size 3 to a size 14.  The youngest patient I’ve worked with was 11 years old and the oldest was 90 years old.  I worked with various ladies that had some fertility concerns and a few of those ladies’ dreams turned into reality when they became pregnant.  I also had the opportunity to work with a number of 9-month pregnant ladies that wanted to see if therapeutic reflexology may assist in getting the little one to jump out before the doctors had to do inductions.

During 2019 I had the privilege of giving therapeutic reflexology sessions to a wide variety of people ranging from the employed to the self-employed to the unemployed and included amongst others: architects, attorneys, authors, beauticians, bookkeepers, business owners, chartered accountants, counsellors, engineers, fellow therapeutic reflexologists, housewives, lecturers, managers, massage therapists, medical doctors, pastors, podiatrists, psychologists, retailers, retired people, scientists, small business owners, teachers, translators, and writers.

This was also a year where I had the opportunity to work in-hospital, corporate environments and in the general community offering therapeutic reflexology, but also doing numerous talks and presentations on therapeutic reflexology.  Introducing the profession of therapeutic reflexology in various forms is always a highlight for me.

I am so thankful to have been part of your lives.  Thank you for entrusting me with your feet and bodies.  Offering you therapy has been an absolute joy.

I made good progress with the writing of my Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)-degree thesis entitled Creating and Entrepreneurship Framework to Stimulate Employment Creation in the South African Healthcare Industry and if all goes according to plan, the thesis will be formally submitted for examination early in 2020.

I had an amazing year and I’m very excited about what the new year will bring.  I hope you are all excited about the coming 2020 as well.

May you all have a wonderful festive season and a happy 2020.  I’ll be taking a few days off going to visit some family in the Eastern Cape and the practice will officially close for the year on 23 December 2019 but will reopen on 15 January 2020 to continue offering you the best possible therapeutic reflexology.  Drive safely and remember to enjoy some time off or even if you are on duty, to schedule some quality time with your family.

Hope to see you all again in 2020 and to welcome new patients into this private practice in the new year.
