Treat your Feet

My Feet picture

Your feet are that part of your body that carries a lot of weight (no pun intended) as it is the lowest part of your body on which your entire weight rests all day.  Your feet work hard, not only in carrying your weight all day, but it is the part of your body that takes the punch in walking or running over various types of services every day.  On average, people walk about 3000 to 12 000 steps per day and all those steps are done on your feet which carry your entire body weight as well as any additional weight like bags, briefcases, shopping bags, children or other heavy materials that may have to be used in your daily work or lifestyle.

Sometimes we add to this normal strain the feet are carrying with the type of shoes we wear.  Ladies sometimes wear high-heel shoes that looks nice, but it is putting some strain on the posture of your feet and at the end of the day you usually just want to take off your shoes and pamper your feet to get rid of the pain.  In summer we tend to wear open shoes like flip-flops or even walk barefoot more often and that sometimes result in the skin on your feet taking some strain and especially your heels may become dry or even cracked.

What is even more fascinating, is that when you walk it is not only your feet that is involved, but also your ankles, bones, joints, ligaments, joints and ultimately your entire body.

It is not difficult to figure out that your feet and your body need to relax after doing such hard work of carrying you around all day and sometimes all week or all month and for some, even all year.  Treating your feet is a necessity and not a luxury.

At the end of the day your feet need to relax and there are a few things you can do on a daily basis to accomplish this.  First of all, take off your shoes to give your feet some time to breathe and to relax from the confines of your shoes that kept them captive all day.  When you are ready, it may be good to lift your feet up and even if you are watching some television, to keep your feet elevated; this helps your feet to relax and for blood and lymph flow to increase to the rest of your body.  Remember, while you have been walking all day, gravity was at work on your feet and by lifting your feet up, counteracts the pull of gravity and allows your body to relax.

Soaking your feet in some warm water does wonders to help you feel relaxed.  There are various products on the market that you may put in this water or you can just make use of some Epson salt.  This soaking does not only help relax you, but may also help with some dry skin on your feet and especially heels.

You may give yourself a foot massage to help your feet de-stress, but usually you are too tired to do this after a hard day’s work.  If you have a special person or spouse or friend willing to give you a foot massage, that usually helps, but often they also had a hard day’s work behind them and will not always be in the mood to do so.  It is in these instances that people may consider going to their beautician for a foot massage, but have you ever considered going to a therapeutic reflexologist that is trained in not only giving you a good foot massage, but in truly offering your feet the ultimate form of relaxation, rejuvenation and healing?

Therapeutic reflexology is the ultimate form of treating your feet!

Therapeutic reflexologists are professionally trained to work with your feet and that includes the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, veins, arteries, lymph, skin and the reflexes represented on your feet which are basically the hundreds of thousands of nerve endings in your feet.

The therapeutic reflexologist is trained to not only give you an excellent foot massage, but also to work on the reflexes with the purpose of giving your body the boost it needs to begin to heal or at least balance itself from the inside out.  Therapeutic reflexology is good for increasing blood flow and lymph flow in the body and at the same time assists with the distribution of nutrients and oxygen to the various body parts as it is carried by the blood, but also to increase toxin release.  Our modern lifestyles are known for increasing toxins in the body and therapeutic reflexology assists the body to rid itself of these toxins.

When the therapeutic reflexologist purposefully works on specific reflexes on your feet, it induces deep relaxation and causes endorphins to be released in your body leaving you with an overall feeling of wellbeing.

Treating your feet is necessary.  There are certain things you can do to treat your feet, but sometimes you should visit a therapeutic reflexologist so your feet can be treated professionally.

Visiting the therapeutic reflexologist regularly is ideal, but how often would depend on each individual and his or her unique circumstances and condition of health.  Some people visit the therapeutic reflexologist twice per week, some once per week, others once every second week and others once a month.  You need to understand your own state of health and know what therapeutic reflexology can do for you and then discuss how often it is recommended for you.  The trained therapeutic reflexologist will always have your best interest at heart, so please do not feel hesitant to discuss anything with the professional therapist.

Treat your feet with self-care, but also by visiting your therapeutic reflexologist.
