Christo Scheepers Therapeutic Reflexologist is relocating to new professional premises on 1 March 2020.  In today’s post, we’ll discuss the move.

The private practice of Christo Scheepers Therapeutic Reflexologist has to be relocated on 1 March 2020 in order to continue offering good therapeutic reflexology to our clients and patients while making it more convenient for them.

Background of Reflexology for Christo Scheepers

Christo Scheepers was originally trained in trauma counselling and completed a Reflexology course in the beauty industry in 2003 with Hans Gerspacher, a lecturer from Germany, at Aesthetic + Cosmetic in Randburg.  He was absolutely fascinated with the modality of reflexology and started implementing it in his trauma counselling practice as well as in a health and beauty salon he purchased and operated in Port Elizabeth.

He added additional training in natural healthcare and various massage modalities (body massage, holistic massage, Hot stone therapy massage, Indian Head massage, Swedish massage) to his training repertoire, but his love for reflexology resulted in reflexology remaining his favourite modality.

Due to personal health matters in 2014, he personally received therapeutic reflexology and saw amazing results with regards to physical health conditions and decided to pursue this as a formal healthcare modality to practice.  He graduated cum laude from the International Academy of Reflexology and Meridian Therapy (IARAMT) in January 2018 after which he formally registered with The Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA) and obtained a valid practice number to make medical aid reimbursements possible.

He opened a private practice in April 2018.

Background of the Practice

Christo Scheepers started a therapeutic reflexology practice in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town on 1 April 2018 in Eversdal, on the border of Tygervalley.  This practice allowed him to offer therapeutic reflexology services to various patients ranging from ages 11 to 90 from different parts of South Africa, Africa and globally.

Two years later, the need to relocate into larger premises became evident.

Why the need to Relocate?

Christo Scheepers Therapeutic Reflexologist made use of an office inside an office suite that had various other people operating from there.  The suite had a large studio that was used in the evenings for dance classes, modelling classes, self-defence classes and so forth which did not affect the practice as it was mostly used in the evenings.  The only challenge was that after-hour consultations during the week were not possible.

The studio became more in use during daytime hours and since the end of last year, this has become a problem as it was in operation on Saturdays as well as from very early during the day on weekdays.  The problem with the studio being in use, was the fact that it was accompanied by loud music, making therapeutic reflexology next to such loud music a very challenging exercise leading to consultations having to be cancelled until such time as more peace and quiet surroundings was possible.

Another major challenge, was the fact that there was no wheelchair access to the offices, making it difficult for older patients, injured patients and patients with limb problems to access the offices.

The need evidently arose to find premises that offered wheelchair access and that was not shared with other people in order to make after-hour and weekend consultations possible.

New premises was found, literally just down the road.

The New Premises

The new home for the private practice of Christo Scheepers Therapeutic Reflexologist will be Suite 25B, The Bridge, 304 Durban Road, Tygervalley 7530.

The new premises are in the heart of Tygervalley on the busy Durban Road connecting Durbanville to the N1 highway, but the office suite is located in the ideal location in the building and therefore provides a tranquil environment without even the sound of traffic.  It is literally a little oasis in the midst of the busy Tygervalley business hub; even with a view over the Paarl mountains.

What makes the premises a very rare find, is the fact that it offers ample free parking for patients.  Yes, this is unheard of in the Tygervalley area, but it is true.  No more struggling to find parking and even more, there is 24-hour security on the premises.  Interestingly enough, there is also a carwash on the premises, so you may even treat your vehicle while you get your feet and body treated.

Our new premises are located on the first floor that is accessible via stairs or an elevator, making wheelchair access completely possible.  As you exit the elevator, the office suite is literally the first office on your right, next to the elevator with male and female restrooms directly opposite the suite.  Very conveniently located to make it possible for patients to literally pop in, even during a lunch break.

As the suite is our own, a personal waiting room will be set up and with some renovations in the near future, the premises will also be ideal to legally offer multidisciplinary services to make life even more convenient to our patients.

The premises are easily accessible from Durbanville, Eversdal, Kenridge, Oude Westhof, and Welgemoed.  It is located very close to the N1 highway (North and South), making it possible for patients from other areas to quickly get to our offices.  It is located directly across from Hyundai Tygervalley and Clickatell, next to Die Burger offices.  It is very close to the 24-hour M-Kem pharmacy and literally just one block below the Tygervalley Shopping Centre.

The Future

The future of the private practice of Christo Scheepers Therapeutic Reflexologist looks promising to continue to offer excellent therapy to patients and even expand our service offering to also include clients that not necessarily want to make use of medical aid reimbursements.

Christo Scheepers loves the healthcare modality of therapeutic reflexology and would like to continue offering you the best possible service while attempting to make it even more accessible to a larger population.
