Welcome to 2021

Welcome to a new year as we enter 2021 after coming through the very difficult 2020 that was characterised by COVID-19.  In today’s post, I’ll share a few thoughts on the year ahead, specifically at Christo Scheepers Therapeutic Reflexologist.

We entered the new year with an upscaled national lockdown level while not even being able to visit the beach with the children; the first December/January vacation ever where we cannot even go to the beach.  Along with the stricter regulations, there are extreme numbers of people testing positive for COVID-19 globally.

Alongside all the regulations, there are numerous conspiracy theories doing the rounds, but in many instances, the very regulations that are meant to prevent the spread of the coronavirus are actually fuelling all the conspiracy theories because there are so many regulations that do not make sense that it seems to be about control instead of merely preventing the spread of the virus; this is the very thing that fuels conspiracy theories.

With all of that said, Therapeutic Reflexologists practice within the South African Healthcare Industry under very strict guidelines and protocols to ensure that we are not the cause of spreading COVID-19.  All the necessary protocols are in place at Christo Scheepers Therapeutic Reflexologist ranging from the normal sanitising and cleaning of all surfaces to using disposable linens, to proper ventilation in the practice offices, to taking temperature and effectively screening patients and potential patients before and on the day of appointments and ensuring proper spacing between patients so there is no overlap in the waiting room or in the building.  With all the necessary in place, it is a safe environment for patients to enter where relaxing therapy can be obtained.  We have been practicing effectively since the beginning of the lockdown in 2020 within the prescribed guidelines and limitations.  Thank you to every person that entrusted me with their feet (and bodies) during the lockdown periods; it is always such a privilege to offer you effective therapy.

The basic protocols are in place which includes the wearing of masks during appointments and even though many regulations do not make sense, it is in place for a reason and fully complied to in order to ensure your safety, comfort, and relaxation at all times.

In 2021 many things remain the same, like the continuation of these protocols and the continuation of practicing on medical aid rates, a fair rate for an excellent therapeutic service.

There are also some changes in 2021; we have streamlined appointments to ensure that all sessions have a duration of 60 minutes (unless a patient requests a longer or shorter session), to ensure that all patients receive the best possible treatment within a timeframe that makes it possible for everyone, including busy professionals.

Therapeutic Reflexology is an excellent, non-invasive therapy available for everyone that should be considered during 2021 but do so with an open mind and realising it is a therapy and not a miracle cure; you cannot expect to have a 20-year health condition cured in one session; that is just unrealistic.  Therapeutic Reflexology makes no claims of curing, just like no other healthcare modality does, but it does offer you an opportunity to experience a great form of relaxation that has many health benefits and allows your body to heal itself, or at least attempt to balance itself from the inside out.

In the midst of living in interesting times, do not neglect yourself; make the new year’s resolution to look after yourself and your health and wellbeing in 2021 by making your first appointment for a Therapeutic Reflexology session.
