Happy Spring!
In today’s post, we’ll contemplate the change of a season and how Therapeutic Reflexology may assist you with the transition.
Spring is always a great time of year signifying the change from the cold winter season to the sunny spring season, from rain and white snow to sunshine and blooming flowers. Spring is often associated with renewal as it is the season where plants are experiencing rebirth and new flowers are emerging. Spring is the season where the dark winter mornings are rapidly changing in earlier sunlight hours. Spring is associated with the transition from the winter to the summer.
It is interesting how the change to the season of spring positively affects the human mind. Experiencing sunlight earlier in the mornings provides the average person with more energy and almost a “lighter” emotional feeling. Spring is equivalent to a better mood and often results in people wanting to spring clean their environments, from their houses to their bodies. Spring leads to more outdoor activities and after maybe being too dormant during the winter months, you may become very aware of your body as you commence more exercise and physical activity.
Therapeutic Reflexology, in its core nature, is a healthcare modality about rebalancing all areas of your life and as spring is entered, some homeostasis in all dimensions of life might be craved. Therapeutic Reflexology is ideal to facilitate the process of holistic homeostasis.
Holistic Homeostasis: what is meant by this term? Years ago, I completed research where I suggested that each person consists of seven distinct dimensions, namely the (1) spirit, (2) soul (consisting of the will, emotions and intellect), (3) physical body, (4) sexuality, (5) social relationships, (6) finances, and (7) career (Scheepers, 2003). As a person, you cannot separate your dimensions. All the dimensions are integrated with each other making up the whole person, yet there is always that added area of life where Gestalt Psychology effectively says that “the whole is more than the sum of the parts” (Jäkel et al., 2016; Scheepers, 2007). As a human, you are a multifaceted being and having all dimensions in balance, provides a certain sense of contentment that must be experienced to be understood; it results in a sense of peace and calmness, a feeling of being satisfied with the person you are.
Therapeutic Reflexology attempts to restore holistic homeostasis in all human dimensions to provide that inner feeling of wholeness, resulting in an overall feeling of wellness.
As spring is inviting us deeper into its conversion of winter into summer, why not consider Therapeutic Reflexology to invite your stress into calmness, and your imbalance into homeostasis?
Make spring your season of renewal, your season of rebirth, your season of restoration, and your season of wholeness and wellness! Spring into emotional upliftment and physical energy this Spring.
