Who is Dr Christo A. Scheepers?

Dr Christo A. Scheepers is a born teacher with a passion to research and to convert knowledge into understandable and practically useful skills.  He has been professionally lecturing and supervising research at recognised South African universities since 2013 on various programmes ranging from certificate to doctoral degree level within the Faculty of Commerce.

Where does the interest in Higher Education and Research come from?

Dr. Christo A. Scheepers always had a very broad field of interest since his school days making it very difficult for him to choose a career in only one discipline, thus his interdisciplinary interests.  He could never understand what career to embark on because every week he would be interested in something else, especially within the various careers within healthcare, business, psychology, and theology.  Eventually, he realised that his interest is beyond that of a career limited to a specific discipline because he realised that the reason he loves accumulating knowledge was not to just increase knowledge, but specifically to share that knowledge with other people.  When making that realisation, he understood that he was a born teacher, because not only did he always wanted to study to reach the top level within academia, but even in recreational activities, he wanted to do the same, like when scuba diving, he wanted to end up on the level of scuba diving instructor.  Due to undergoing surgery making professional scuba diving difficult, he never pursued becoming a scuba diving instructor, but did end up as an advanced scuba diver and rescue diver.  He did, however, pursue professional qualifications to the highest level of doctoral degrees.

Where is the link between practicing in Therapeutic Reflexology and lecturing in the Faculty of Commerce?

That is an interesting question that people regularly ask Dr Christo A. Scheepers, but the answer is quite simple: All research has been within healthcare management, specifically practice management, and that is how the two disciplines are linked.  His South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) accredited Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree on Level 10 of the  National Qualifications Framework (NQF) was within the field of Business Management (specifically Management of Technology and Innovation) while the research conducted was about Entrepreneurship within the South African Healthcare Industry after identifying a work-based challenge within the profession of Therapeutic Reflexology.
