Arches

Therapeutic Reflexologists also work on the arches on your feet; read more in today’s post.

The human foot is really fascinating and as a Therapeutic Reflexologist, I work on the entire foot of a patient to provide a complete and holistic form of therapy.  The therapy includes working on the patient’s arches.  The human foot has four arches, namely the transverse arch, the anterior metatarsal arch, the medial longitudinal arch, and the lateral longitudinal arch.  The various arches give the human foot its unique shape, making it ideal for carrying a person’s weight all day long, while providing enough bounce for walking, running, jumping, and all kinds of sports events.  Overall, the human foot consists of the ball of the foot in the front, the arch in the middle, and the heel in the back.  It is this arch in the middle that today’s post is all about.  Your arches may be normal, you may have high arches or you may have flat feet; these are all part of the fascination with the arches of your feet.

In Therapeutic Reflexology, the entire body is represented on the human foot and the arch is no different, it represents the abdominal region of the body, and therefore represents all the organs and regions usually found in the abdomen.  The arches thus range from the diaphragm at the top to the pelvic region at the bottom.

When stimulating the reflexes, or nerve endings, on the arches, it may be sensitive due to many patients experiencing abdominal challenges in modern-day society with our modern and often non-nutritious diet, high-stress levels, and constant pressure to be part of the continuous rat race.

Reading all this may be a bit overwhelming, but do not stress about that; it is the domain of the Therapeutic Reflexologist, so all you usually must do, is put your feet up, relax and allow the Therapeutic Reflexologist to stimulate all the reflexes on your feet, which will include all the reflexes in the arches.  You don’t have to make sense of all the different regions, just hand over that responsibility to your Therapeutic Reflexologist to provide you with the best possible form of therapy on your feet.  Your responsibility is to take charge of your own health and wellbeing, which may include changing your diet or other lifestyle factors, beginning with the most important aspect, namely making your first Therapeutic Reflexology appointment to start receiving a good quality, relaxing therapy that is not only ideal to induce relaxation and increase circulation, but also to lower your stress levels and work with your body to provide you with a good form of preventative healthcare.

Your Therapeutic Reflexologist finds your feet fascinating, including your arches, so us a favour and provide us the opportunity to offer you one of the most popular complementary healthcare therapies available in the world.
